The P.D.A. publish a national bi-monthly journal/magazine called ‘The Decorator’. Stewkley Decorating are proud to be featured in the Feb-Mar 2014 edition. Interior re-decoration of this wooden conservatory in Whitchurch was carried out in November 2013, images were submitted in January. This was my first attempt to get some pictures featured (see below) (14/2/14).

Product Focus
For problem areas such as stairs & windows it has to be Toupret Fibacryl, for a better lasting finish it's my 1st choice for problem gaps.
'Dulux Trade Paint Expert' Has been very helpful in terms of quickly accessing product datasheets online, providing colour schemes and identifying suitable products however I was surprised at the lack of colours available. Some very popular shades are just not there, which limits the use of colour schemes to show clients. A useful addition but falls short of being an 'Expert' in my opinion - 11/10/13.

"It's the best that they've ever made and the best that I've ever used" - Trusted by Wayne de Wet, professional decorator and perfectionist
Since legislation in 2010 affected solvent-based paints, all manufacturers have had issues that they have been working hard to resolve. The main issue soon after 2010 was that products were yellowing very quickly, especially where there was reduced natural light and where items had been placed on window sills for a period of time.
Dulux Trade High Gloss
Dulux have worked on their solvent-based VOC 2010 compliant formulations (White/Pure Brilliant White gloss products) and now believe that they have addressed this issue and are confident that the performance and finish of these paints is comparable to the versions which they produced before the legislative changes came into effect.
Note : Whilst leading-edge technology has been used in the development of this product, the nature of solvent-based paints means that they will all discolour over time. The rate of discolouration is faster in areas with no natural or UV light. For long-lasting whiteness, Dulux recommend the use of a water-based formulation such as Dulux Trade Ecosure Water-Based Gloss. (August 2013)
"I am using the new Dulux Trade High Gloss formulation and have been massively impressed at the leap in performance. It's easier to use, has excellent coverage and opacity and will be my 1st choice for solvent-based paint for wooden trim." - Trusted by Stewart C. Fawcett, proprietor Stewkley Decorating and perfectionist
As an alternative to solvent-based gloss products I would use water-based products from BEDEC, Johnstones or Dulux. (Augu)

Regular visitors at The National Painting & Decorating Show since 2010
Paint Show 2013 saw many of the regular exhibitors along with some debutants. A non-stop day of technical discussions, latest innovations, demonstrations, great deals and the occasional freebie (some exhibitors being very generous to us regular end-users).
Discussions centred around various case studies and upcoming projects, ranging from nicotine stained surfaces, lime-washed walls, moving cracks, skimming fillers, etc.
Those of you who know me may be able to spot me in the pic below during the opening few minutes at the 2013 show, chatting to the guys on the Zinsser stand - Zinsser supply the best primer/sealers and range of products for problem surfaces in the business...
