uPVC Door
Kolorbond Aquatek TransformationDoor finished (see right) in RAL7032 (Pebble Grey) Satin. Customers upvc door had badly faded, though not particularly obvious in photo (top left). Having come across Technispray Ltd at the 2016 Paint Show, this was to be my first choice of finish paint. Kolorbond is a special coating designed to paint PVCu, (uPVC), PVC and other hard plastic such as ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic and polyester powder coatings.

Unlike most paints for plastics which try to stick to the substrate, Kolorbond forms a molecular cross bond with the plastic surface.
1. Remove door handle, knocker & letter box.
2. Sand the whole of front door using 3M Scotchbrite.
3. Spray with Zinsser Universal Degreaser and Cleaner and wipe dry with clean rag.
4. Clean with Windowprep (Technispray product) using clean rag.
5. Mask window panes (used Kleen Edge masking tape) and lock.
6. Paint using Picasso synthetic brush (I was going to spray with Graco Easymax but as I only had 1 ltr of paint, and it being fairly costly I didn't want to run out!) - the 1st coat was double-coated, so as I did a few sections I went over again.
7. Painted further full coat (re-coating can be done after 10 mins, though I left subsequent coats for minimum of 30mins in 18C, after double-coating I left for more than 60mins before stage 7)
8. Painted further full coat.
9. Once fully dry I cut edges of masking tape with sharp Olfa blade and gently removed at angle.
10. Re-fix door handle, knocker & letter box - all done from start to finish in about half a day (completed in Mursley, September 2017).
